Automated Systems Design (ASD) turns 25 and continues to grow stronger.
April 16, 2012; Alpharetta, Ga. – Automated Systems Design (ASD), Inc. is celebrating 25 years in business this month. Bob Eskew, CEO of ASD, founded the company in 1987, but it was not an easy decision. In 1987, Eskew had a secure position with General Motors (GM), and he had to decide if he was going to stay with GM or venture out on his own and officially launch ASD.
“I had to make a decision,” recalls Eskew, “Stay with the cradle to grave security of GM or venture out on my own. It was one of the hardest decisions I ever made, but also one of the best decisions. When I left GM to start ASD, my mom cried and the rest of my family laughed. No one could understand why I would do such a crazy thing.”
February 13, 2012 - Automated Systems Design (ASD), Inc. was named a finalist today in the “Customer Service Department of the Year – Telecommunications” category in the sixth annual Stevie® Awards for Sales & Customer Service, and will ultimately be a Gold, Silver, or Bronze Stevie Award winner in the program.
ASD is being recognized for its outstanding customer service for an on-going project for Dollar General that requires high-quality technology installation work in half the time of industry norms. Dollar General is opening its 10,000th store, slated to open late February or early March in Merced, California. ASD is working on this project as well. Dwayne Simmons, National Service Consultant for ASD, is the leader of the project’s customer service team. Infrastructures, mobility, HD video and data center capacity in the spotlight
by Bob Eskew
Big changes are coming to the security industry in 2012. This coming year, Internet Protocol (IP) network infrastructures will play a front and center role when it comes to the performance of security and surveillance systems. This new year will also be a year of convergence for many security professionals; however, the convergence is not just limited to the integration of technologies within the security department. Security professionals are going to have to reach outside of their department and build alliances enterprise-wide to succeed. Wireless mobility, high-definition video and data center capacity will also play a significant role in shaping 2012.Convergence in the security industry generally refers to integrating access control panels, video management systems, alarm sensors and the likes into a cohesive IP-based solution to achieve system-wide interoperability of IP security devices. However, the next wave of convergence involves a much larger view of integrating the entire IP-based security system with other IP-based systems from multiple departments.
